Little Fenway wedding
Sportsshooter.com highlighted photographer Corey Perrine’s update (may have changed – see newspaper story for additional link to images) that featured images from Danny Goulet and Laura Holway’s backyard wedding – a little different from most backyard wedding’s since their backyard features a replica of Fenway Park. The couple host a wiffle ball tournament/fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund every year and added their wedding to the festivities in 2009. I’ve never really gotten the spend the minimum equivalent of a car on a wedding that seems very prevalent these days, atleast up North (weddings attended growing up were ceremony followed by reception featuring wedding cake, groom’s (aka chocolate) cake, butter mints & mixed nuts and punch to drink) – the relaxed nature of their festivities, ice chests, crackerjack, casual dress, is very appealing and I don’t even like baseball.
(Fourth post w/ no BC mention although BC will be playing at the real Fenway Park on January 8, 2010.)
Cool time lapse at the White House
Check out Reuters photographer Jason Reed’s time lapse project. I think my favorite bit was the Marine changeover and the way they opened the door for each other – so polite (I assume they don’t do that & turn their backs when guarding doors that might actually be attacked).
But I wanted to READ a blog – where are the words?
You are in the wrong place! While this isn’t one of those – here’s a big photo, say ooh, say aah, but you aren’t getting anything more today – kind of blogs (no, not because I can’t dig out photos that would cause you to oooh and aaah although to be honest new entries would be infrequent), it is still image-focused (you can read that “still” either way).
But if you need to read and have a great sense of humor (aka one that matches mine), you should really visit Mimi Smartypants - I’ve been reading her for years and years (not from the exact beginning, but I immediately read the year or so of archived posts way back when I first visited). Posting is irregular which probably makes it perfect for RSS reading whatever that is, but I like the happy surprise of finding a new post. Current one isn’t really one I’d point to normally to get someone hooked, but this bit IS Mimi Smartypants: “…I have a fever (and not any of the good kinds [Pac-Man, disco]) …” Disco Fever! Love it.
And now I’ve posted for the day :-). (I don’t know “Mimi” or Nora or the cats or the man and there isn’t even any hockey aside from occasional, pretty rare mentions of the Blackhawks as she is in Chicago.)
Taking a mini-break
I know – I only just started, but I did manage a post+ a day which isn’t bad plus its sort of the offseason. I say sort of since the mini-break is due to the US/Russia U20 Summer Camp. Going to be a bit insane tomorrow preparing to get up there so no posts for Friday – probably will skip Saturday/Sunday as well, but will be posting from LP for the end of the week.
Just disappointed in myself as I really wanted to get the 2009 WJC completely finished before LP and I’m coming up short by a few days worth of work.
Taking refrigerator magnets to the extreme –
Came across this blog post featuring a cool refrigerator magnet item:

GNR8.biz Refrigerator Magnet
Not currently in stock, but it comes with almost 1300 pieces that you can arrange according to diagrams supplied by them (Che, James Bond and the Mona Lisa are among the other options if you aren’t interested in Audrey Hepburn) or make your own image. Cheaper than replacing your old refrigerator with a stainless one since HGTV & the like seem set on helping the appliance makers convince us that if it isn’t stainless it may as well be harvest gold from the 70s. Just buy two sets so you can cover both visible sides.
Instead of buying their product, you could also blow up one of your own images and print/have printed as magnets. Pretty sure there are photoshop tutorials online to help you get a similar look or you could use your image straight (probably not as fun though).
