Traverse City – Columbus Blue Jackets
See previous posts on Stefan Legein and John Moore.
Columbus participants also included:
Brock McBride
Tomas Kubalik
Kevin Roeder
Chris Higgins
And, the whole point of the post – Tim Filangieri (I’ve gone more than a dozen posts w/o one focused on a BC player!!)
Traverse City – St. Louis Blues
Aaron Palushaj celebrated his 20th birthday and 7 points (leading scorer) during the tournament. Palushaj signed with St. Louis after his sophomore year at Michigan. NHL.com profile.
Phil McRae was tied for second in scoring (Jack Coombs) and is one of the players being featured in a Blues Rookies special on Fox Sports Midwest.
Traverse City – Minnesota Wild
Meant to get some posts up related to the Traverse City tournament (sadly not actually there) yesterday and earlier today, but had some major issues with the blog on the admin side.
The Minnesota Wild ended up leading the Western division of the tournament (also included St. Louis, Columbus & Dallas). The Wild’s coverage of the tournament can be found here (see links in the article’s sidebar). One of the Wild’s 15 ATOs in the camp was Tyler Johnson (earlier blog gallery). The Wild’s GM said “He’s shown tremendous hockey sense. He’s been quick. He’s been smart. He’s been poised. And he’s drawn a few penalties with his intensity. He’s been a real factor in the 72 shots we’ve had. With smaller players, you never give them the benefit of the doubt. They have to prove it.” Johnson has been invited to the Wild’s training camp.
John Moore, blogger-for-hire
John Moore of the Columbus Blue Jackets organization has been blogging for NHL.com during the Traverse City tournament. Moore also wrote a blog during the 2009 Entry Draft (he was taken 21st overall) – I read it on USHL.com, but the entries now seem to be moved to this blog.
Some images of him from the US U20 evaluation camp held in August:
I’ve already blogged about his younger brother Mac here.
Stefan Legein
Happy to see an article on NHL.com re: Stefan Legein at the Traverse City tournament. Glad to see that he is back to hockey for hockey fans’ sake and still think it was very brave of him to step away from the game when he felt he needed to last year.
