He had the best save percentage and GAA for all goalies in the league (that played a minimum of 60 minutes during the year). One of the voters was Pär Mårts who coaches the national junior team that won silver in 2009 and bronze in 2010 at the World Juniors with Markström in net. Players eligible for the award included Marcus Krüger, Magnus Pääjärvi Svensson and Mattias Tedenby.

Apparently I never uploaded the pictures of Tedenby’s front teeth after they were recovered from the shovelled off bloody snow at Lake Placid’s NHL rink at the August 2008 Summer Hockey Challenge (caught a puck w/ his mouth iirc). They are on my harddrive somewhere.
