Tim Kunes seems to have been set loose in Trenton. From the Devils’ website: “… Despite the power play struggles, the Devils generated the even-strength goal in overtime as Tim Kunes skated the puck behind the Jackals goal and found Prough in front for the game winning score. …” (italics mine)

Both Brock Bradford (Lake Erie Monsters) and Andrew Orpik (Las Vegas Wranglers) scored goals tonight.

Tim Filangieri was traded to the Chicago Wolves in early October – don’t know who his D partner is, but just being on the same team as Chris Chelios must be cool.

Brett Motherwell signed with the Cincinnati Cyclones earlier this week where he rejoins Brian O’Hanley on D.

Was waiting to finish the Syracuse University Orange at Boston College Eagles 10/9/09 full gallery to post the Motherwells.  BC has had a lot of brothers follow each other to the Heights, but they aren’t limited to brother pairs.  Senior forward and alternate captain Matt Lombardi followed his sister Michelle (2003-07) to BC (unfortunately never shot her)

and this year Ashley Motherwell has followed her brother Brett (2005-08).
 

While preparing my Syracuse roster for photo captions, I noticed a few familiar names.  Syracuse also has a sister following her brother onto the ice with Kelly Dimmen whose brother Jeff plays defense (and wears the A) for the University of Maine Black Bears. (Naturally I started this post before I finished editing and didn’t realize that Kelly Dimmen did not play in the game - oops.)
 

Syracuse also has a pair of twins on the team, freshman forwards Isabel and Talia Menard.

The Menards aren’t the only twins on the Syracuse roster, forward Stefanie Marty is the twin sister of Northeastern’s Julia Marty (earlier blog gallery).  Stefanie has also played for Switzerland.

 

Finally, another familiar looking name sent me to Google where I discovered that Keeta Koalska is the second cousin of former Minnesota Golden Gopher Matt Koalska, not a sister.

The Lake Erie Monsters, the Colorado Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, have a new coach from Boston University, David Quinn:

 
and include some BU alum on their current roster including Brandon Yip and Kevin Schaeffer

 
but it was Boston College’s former captain Brock Bradford that scored their gamewinner versus the Rochester Americans last night.

The article is here - my best translation from the online translation is that they are trying out right now (only getting costs covered) – arrived August 17 and decision will be made on/before September 6.  I’m not clear if there are 2 spots open on D with HC Moeller Pardubice or if they are also competing with each other for a single spot (I think 2).

More images are available of Anthony Aiello and Brett Motherwell.  Pardubice (CEZ Arena) was the primary location of the 2008 World Juniors Championship so I’ve actually shot in their rink before.  I’ll have to try to find some non-Boston College Eagles content for my next post.

Update:  They were released by Pardubice on September 1 after Motherwell played in 3 games and Aiello in 2.  Sounds as though it was a bit of a longshot; mostly a way for the club to save a few bucks.    Seems like it would have been a cool experience though so hopefully it was worth it for them.
