Google Alert – THN.com Blog: Looking at the 2009-10 NCAA classes
article in my inbox this morning. A few pictures of a few of the kids mentioned below:
When it came to Michigan, he also mentioned a few of the 2010-2011 class – not sure if Jack Campbell was left off because Ryan Kennedy thinks he’ll end up in Windsor instead of at Yost.
Pet Peeve from the article: “…Ironically, I like what Michigan has lined up in 2010 as well,…” What is “ironic” about liking two classes of recruits? There is no mention that the author despises Red/Michigan. If anyone gets the chance to time travel, could you please prevent Alanis Morissette from recording “Isn’t It Ironic?”. Has any word been misused as often as “ironic” has since that song came out? Not even including the misuses of it in the song?
Hockey and “Women’s Hockey”
I was going to tag my previous entry re: the 1998 team when I ran into a pet peeve. Hockey = men’s hockey. No need to put “men” in front. [I know some might quibble about leaving out "ice" but that's the only kind of hockey I shoot or watch so hockey = ice hockey; that other game requires the "field" in front.]
How do others handle it?
In separating my galleries on this website, I haven’t made a distinction between the sex of the players on the ice – collections are by type/year (college vs. international) and team (college or nation) – and have avoided the issue until now.
