I like lists (when other people write them)
Another blog post prompted by a list style article – another from The Hockey News on kids the writer can’t wait to see in the NHL.
1. Jonas Gustavsson (Toronto Maple Leafs)
2. Alexander Burmistrov (2010)
3. Carter Ashton (Tampa Bay)
4. Dmitri Kulikov (Florida)
5. Ryan O’Reilly (Colorado)
and for the rest see the article.
Okposo – mild concussion; Stoa & Kennedy score
Good to read that Kyle Okposo was able to fly home with the New York Islanders last night after a huge hit (hit comes around the 1:00 minute mark) by Dion Phaneuf in Calgary – Calgary Herald on reaction to hit; Newsday re: his condition.
Okposo’s former teammate with both the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Team USA (the two won bronze at the 2007 WJC in Sweden), Ryan Stoa, scored the gamewinner last night in the Colorado Avalanche’s 3-1 defeat of the Dallas Stars. From the Denver Post: “I just went in with the pump fake and they both went down, and slid it in there low-glove,” Stoa said. “I’m excited and I had a lot of fun tonight.”
Former Michigan State Spartan Tim Kennedy scored his first preseason goal for his hometown Buffalo Sabres (definitely this season; not sure if he did last year) cutting the Washington Capitals lead to 1 goal in their 4-3 defeat of the Sabres.
Brandon Yip
Brandon Yip on staying at BU for all four years despite being drafted before arrival – “…“BU’s a great school, and it was a great four years to develop my size and skills,” Yip said. “I wouldn’t change it for anything. . . . I wanted a degree, and I had a shaky year my junior year and wanted to come back and prove myself. I think as a team, we did a good job of that.”…”
Not just BC & international players
on the blog. Did a search on Chris Higgins and Jason Lawrence (okay – shot him with Team USA prior to BU) of Boston University last night for Melissa Parelli to use with her new blog and thought I’d include a few shots of them from their freshman and senior years here along with classmate Brandon Yip.
Chris Higgins has signed with the Syracuse Crunch, Jason Lawrence with the Providence Bruins and Brandon Yip with the Colorado Avalanche (AHL affiliate - Lake Erie Monsters).
