Jacob Markström, Rookie of the Year for the Elitserien
Jacob Markström was named Rookie of the Year for the Elitserien, the top professional league in Sweden. He had the best save percentage and GAA for all goalies in the league (that played a minimum of 60 minutes during the year). One of the voters was Pär Mårts who coaches the national junior team that won silver in 2009 and bronze in 2010 at the World Juniors with Markström in net. Players eligible for the award included Marcus Krüger, Magnus Pääjärvi Svensson and Mattias Tedenby.
Earlier blog gallery on Markström
Apparently I never uploaded the pictures of Tedenby’s front teeth after they were recovered from the shovelled off bloody snow at Lake Placid’s NHL rink at the August 2008 Summer Hockey Challenge (caught a puck w/ his mouth iirc). They are on my harddrive somewhere.

Under 18s and the Denver Pioneers
Was hoping to get a gallery finished & related sibling post up today, but looks like I won’t finish until tomorrow so copying a little from yesterday, but substituting the University of Denver for Michigan.
Current members of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program’s Under-18 team that have committed to Denver are:
Jason Zucker (Zucker played 16 games with the U18s last season including the Worlds in Grand Forks)
Nick Shore
NTDP alumni on the Denver Pioneers 2009-10 roster include:
Senior Rhett Rakhshani
and freshmen Adam Murray
Drew Shore (older brother of Nick Shore) – Denver Post article on the four hockey-playing Shore brothers
and William Wrenn.
–
Matt Donovan, another Denver Pioneer freshman, took part in USA Hockey’s Under-20 evaluation camp in August – earlier Matt Donovan gallery. Donovan went to Denver from the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the USHL.
Siblings (or not) – Michigan/Under 18s
Two current Wolverines who previously played on the Under-18 team have younger brothers relatives on the National Team Development Program’s 2009-2010 Under 18 team. Neither younger brother player has committed to Michigan – Bryan Rust has committed to Notre Dame while Austin Czarnik is afaik currently uncommitted. Note: I was sloppy and screwed up – Austin and Robbie Czarnik are cousins, not brothers (thanks Chris!). Oops!
