Recent games
Gotten a bit behind here, but last weekend’s play:
Friday night – Maine at Northeastern was the Huskies’ Dylan Wiwchar’s first collegiate game this year (yes, apparently I can’t read a roster sheet – thanks Brenda!).
Below gallery links will go to USCHO.com:
Saturday was spent at Boston University’s Agganis Arena – first the BU women defeating Providence College then the BU men defeated Merrimack.
Sunday I didn’t doublecheck the schedule and wound up missing the BC women’s 4-0 win over UConn, but did shoot Vermont’s win over the BC men (scroll down) later that afternoon.
Boston College at Merrimack
My first visit to Lawler Arena and it really is that dark. I’d actually really like the rink setup if the lighting was redone. They replaced the ice pad over the summer and plan to replace the bench-style seating with seat back seating next year. Not sure if it was on the renovation schedule, but something has to be done about the scoreboards as they didn’t work. Penalty times weren’t properly visible to the benches, goalies or officials and the end of the periods was announced by air horn. I would advise trying to get there this season in case some of the charm is lost with the seating changes. Just don’t put down anything. My favorite hoodie from the 2008 WJC somehow disappeared from the penalty box before the game.
The Merrimack College Warriors evened the weekend series with the Boston College Eagles with a 5-3 win.
Merrimack at Boston College
The Boston College Eagles defeated the Merrimack College Warriors 4-3 on Friday, October 30, 2009.
Check out the displays next time you are at Conte (hopefully either Friday, November 6 for the next women’s home game or Saturday, November 7 when there is a doubleheader – women at 2 pm; men at 7 pm) – the men’s display has been changed and the center section has Brock Bradford’s 2009 Male Eagle of the Year. While BC was defeating Merrimack, Bradford was scoring his first professional goal and following that up by scoring in the shootout and helping his Lake Erie Monsters defeat Ben Bishop’s Peoria Rivermen.
