Scattered (like my brain)

San Jose Sharks:
Good: Benn Ferriero scored another goal & assist in the Shark’s 3-2 loss (previously scored only regulation goal in a 2-1 SO loss) – Head coach on Ferriero – “…every night, he’s doing something that we like. There’s some players that we kind of penciled into certain positions,” the coach continued. “This guy’s nipping at their butts right now. I think it’s great competition. There’s some that have to pick it up.”  Maybe he should bite them on the ass instead and put them on IR and out of his way :-).
Sad, not Bad: Nick Petrecki was among those sent to Worcester today. It’s probably better for him in the long run so can’t say it is bad.

Nashville:
@#$%^: Francis Bouillon added – currently on a tryout (confirmed w/ Preds’ official twitterer), but contract agreed to assuming he makes the team. Nothing against Bouillon – but that puts him in Jonathon Blum’s way.

Chicago:
@#$%&!!!!!!: Despite him helping to break my heart in 2006, can’t help but love that Stinkin’ Badger. Sorry to hear Adam Burish is out for 6 months with torn ACL.

Cincinnati Cyclones (hey, I needed to come up with another positive bit of news):
Good: Chris Mueller – who helped break my heart in 2007 – has signed per MSU_Hockey on Twitter.

Baby Preds staying put for now

Nine would be-rookie Predators are still in Nashville after the team cut the roster to 44.  They include  Team USA alum:

Jonathon Blum – CHL Defenseman of the Year, passed 200 pts as a D with the Vancouver Giants, and 2009 WJC Team USA captain.  Nice bit of confidence and determination in this quote:  “But I feel like I could step into that kind of role just as well, even being a couple years younger. I’m going to push this camp and really try to earn that spot or take it away from someone.”

Colin Wilson – 2009 Hobey Baker hat trick finalist will be making his preseason debut tonight.  Nice mentions in Sports Illustrated and The Tennessean.

Edited to add: Wilson was the star in his debut with 1G, 2A for a team-leading 3 points (also a +3 tied for tops w/ 1 teammate).  Highlight video

Jeremy Smith – Team USA teammate of both Blum and Wilson at the 2008 WJC

And from Team Canada, prospects Ryan Ellis (playing tonight)

and Chet Pickard have stuck with the team.

The remaining would-be rookies are Nick Spaling (playing tonight) Ian McKenzie, Mark Santorelli and Russ Sinkewich:
