Congrats to Jamie McBain & other transactions

Transaction list-inspired post:

Jamie McBain called up to the Carolina Hurricanes for his NHL debut vs. the Boston Bruins – previous blog galleries: college/USA, Albany River Rats

Viktor Tikhonov was recalled from Cherepovets by Phoenix

Brian Lee assigned to Binghampton by Ottawa.

And most-rumored item in my twitter feed:  Will he sign or won’t he re: Jordan Schroeder (most including link to Vancouver Sun story) – earlier blog gallery

Great senior night (okay, afternoon) for the Minnesota Golden Gophers

without comments

Sadly FSCS which tape-delayed the 6-1 Gophers win over the Stinkin’ Badgers :-) cut off the broadcast at the end and didn’t include the senior ceremony.  But congratulations to seniors Tony Lucia (1a) and Mike Carman (2a) who both scored two goals in their final regular season game.   Congrats as well to their fellow seniors Jay Barriball, David Fischer, Ryan Flynn, Brian Schack.

Jay Barriball

without comments

Bad news from Minnesota – senior forward Jay Barriball will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury/surgery (Pioneer Press).

-
In better news, Anthony Aiello is making his pro debut with the Florida Everblades tonight after getting hit in the face with a puck and requiring surgery during training camp.
-
When I looked on the Pioneer Press for the Barriball article, I noticed a link for an article – including the original 1909 piece – on the Rouser’s origin.    Pretty cool other than this bit: “…Arrangements will at once be made to have the song copyrighted in President Northrop’s name. …”
