Happy Fourth of July!

without comments

To celebrate the Fourth of July, Team USA won the Inline Hockey World Championship defeating the Czech Republic 4-3. I don’t see a Directorate or team awards listed on the IIHF website, but Northeastern’s Kyle Kraemer was third in scoring overall (tops for US, Swedes took the top 2 spots), no. 2 in goals and in plus-minus. Team USA stats can be found here.  A blog gallery I put together when he made the team can be found here.

Since I have to have galleries in my blog posts and haven’t edited any new ones of Kraemer, I had to go with a 2010 WJC gold-medal winner who was born on the Fourth of July, Jake Gardiner (previous blog gallery here).

Team USA

with one comment

Team USA opens the 2010 World Championship against the host Germany at Gelsenkirchen’s VELTINS-Arena which can hold over 76,000 fans. Representatives from Guinness will be there as the game should set a new attendance record for hockey at least until Michigan’s game at the “Big House” which has already sold 100,000 tickets.

Three-time IIHF gold medal winner Jack Campbell (2009 U18, 2010 U20, 2010 U18) won’t be in Germany, instead the US will count on former Maine Black Bear Ben Bishop, former Boston College Eagle Scott Clemmensen and former Clarkson Golden Knight David Leggio to defend the crease.

On Defense, the US has former North Dakota Fighting Sioux Taylor Chorney, former Boston University Terrier Matt Gilroy, former Miami RedHawk Andy Greene, former North Dakota Fighting Sioux Matt Greene (previous gallery), former Colorado College Tiger Jack Hillen, former Michigan Wolverine (US captain) Jack Johnson (previous gallery), former Maine Black Bear Mike Lundin and Keith Yandle.

Chris Kreider

without comments

Chris Kreider has been named to Team USA for the 2010 World Championship.  He has already won gold at the 2010 World Junior (U20) Championship in January and the national NCAA D1 championship at the 2010 Frozen Four in April.

A couple of nice articles on Kreider that preceded this announcement – April 12 Salem News and April 16 Middleton.
