Zach Bogosian
Came across this article on the Atlanta Thrashers site about Zach Bogosian. A little piece: “…How has this summer differed from what you went through last year after being drafted? I’m not running around as much. The guys that went through the draft this year know what it’s like. With the Team USA camp and media appearances and everything, it was pretty draining. That camp was two weeks towards the end of the summer so put with everything else it took a lot of of you. I went from the OHL playoffs to the NHL Combine to the draft. Then there was the Thrashers development camp and world junior camp, and then I came to camp early for rookie camp, main camp, Traverse City, preseason- it never stopped. …”
Some images from the world junior camp:
Assumed I’d get to shoot him again in Ottawa at the tournament, but he made the Atlanta Thrashers instead. Still managed to play for Team USA last year as he was named to the World Championship team.
The Thrashers have an official blog and it has several entries on/by Bogosian:
Happy Birthday J-bird!
I guess this is the second “birthday” post in a row as yesterday’s was inspired by Peg Gilroy’s birthday, but Alabama’s season starts tonight – Roll Tide!!!! – and I might not get around to posting later if I wait to come up with a non-birthday post.
Jason Hodges, trainer for the NTDP & assorted Team USA teams. Still can’t believe he won’t be in Saskatchewan.

Still working on the rest – there are 500+ additional images online already, but not in a gallery – they can be found by searching on +”2009 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp” +”player name”.
2009-2010 US Women’s National Team announced
Woo hoo – two of the Boston College Eagles taking part in the camp were named to the team – Molly Schaus in goal and Kelli Stack up front. Unfortunately Maggie Taverna, Meghan Fardelmann and Allie Thunstrom were not :-(. Personally I’d dump the 3 skaters I’ve never shot and put those three Eagles in their place so I’d have a complete gallery of the team below, less 1 goalie, instead of missing 4 players.
There will be two more players cut before the 2010 Olympics, but for now the team is made up of:
- 29 – Brianne McLauglin, Robert Morris (not pictured)
- 1 – Molly Schaus, Boston College
- 31 – Jessie Vetter, University of Wisconsin
- –
- 22 – Kacey Bellamy, University of New Hampshire
- 8 – Caitlin Cahow (Harvard)
- 11 – Lisa Chesson (Ohio State – not pictured)
- 6 – Rachael Drazan, University of Minnesota
- 9 – Molly Engstrom (University of Wisconsin)
- 4 – Angela Ruggiero (Harvard)
- 23 – Kerry Weiland (University of Wisconsin)
- –
- 13 – Julie Chu (Harvard)
- 20 – Natalie Darwitz (University of Minnesota)
- 10 – Meghan Duggan, University of Wisconsin
- 15 – Angie Keseley, University of Wisconsin
- 21 - Hilary Knight, University of Wisconsin
- 17 – Jocelyn Lamoureux, University of Minnesota last season, transferring to North Dakota
- 7 – Monique Lamoureux, same school situation as sister above (not pictured)
- 2 – Erika Lawler, University of Wisconsin
- 19 – Gigi Marvin, University of Minnesota
- 12 – Jenny Potter (Duluth)
- 16 – Kelli Stack, Boston College
- 5 – Karen Thatcher (Brown/Providence)
- 3 – Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej (Wisconsin – not pictured)
Brad Thiessen, goalie journalist
Nice to see that Brad Thiessen, former Northeastern University Husky, now member of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, has continued his blog which he started for a journalism class at Northeastern. Definitely worth a read through the archives.
His last post mentioned that his roommate for the Penguins development camp was Eric Tangradi who I’ve shot in the past as a member of Team USA. Tangradi has had to have a couple of surgeries on his hand since last season ended after connecting with a skate blade. Hopefully his participation in the Pens camp is an indication that it is healing/rehabbing successfully.
